Whether selecting Egyptian cotton bath towels or another cotton product of your choosing, we suggest a word of caution regarding the product label. If the label should read “cotton rich” the amount of actual cotton in the product may not be stated due to its small percentage. It would be better to select products that state 100% cotton or that clearly state the exact proportion of cotton in the fabric blend. This would ensure the product composition is one that you will be pleased with for days to come.
Seems like the Fall Season just began and already we have experienced high winds, Halloween, the children off to school, a major hurricane, a Presidential Election, Veteran’s Day, two snows, and Thanksgiving. Whew! Where does the time go? And now; why it’s time to be looking to the bright spot ahead that will end the year for us all in a way we commemorate around family and loved ones near and far.
For most of us that means preparing for that final year end Holiday of gift giving. That star of loving is in front leading us toward that special event we all look forward to, the Christmas Season in America; the Holiday of gift giving. Sending out the cards, baking cookies, shopping and accumulating the gift sets, and the multitude of specially chosen items we will prepare as presents to mail or place under the tree this year.
Much to do, much to mail, and much to prepare for. Many will enjoy the convenience of shopping on line as a great time saver, while some will continue to shop in the traditional way. Have you already started your shopping? Only 27 days to go.
Judi and I both enjoy camping. Our favorite place to go, of late, is New England. Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine call to us often.
One of our trips took us to Vermont. There we stayed at a campsite called Horseshoe Acres. Nice people run the place and they were so kind and helpful to us. Actually, the way we happened upon the community was quite by accident. Our ancient 1988, “Minnie Winne” was being a little contrary to all those hills we chose to drive up and over. Just what you need when your on vacation, right?
We just happened to mention our dilemma and asked if there was a service near by that we could trust our motor home to for repairs. Well they were so nice and made a couple phone calls. Next thing we knew we had an appointment for the next morning to have it repaired, and very economically I might add. We are not likely to forget those folks up there in Vermont at Horseshoe Acres.
Finding nice people, good service, and economy makes for a good experience. Just like shopping to save money and yet purchase that gift set/basket as a token of thanks to good folks.
When it comes to enjoying the Summer season, a quick and spontaneous adventure is always a delight. Just to drop everything and get away for an unplanned day trip of sight seeing can be an enjoyable, and memorable time together.
We all have favorite places we love to visit again and again. Perhaps it is the park in the village green, or maybe run over to that quaint seaside vista where we can view moored boats and mingle with the other passers-by.
This would be relatively easy enough to accomplish spontaneously, including bringing along a picnic lunch we could savor in the shady glen or park. We’ll use the Picnic Backpack we recently acquired as a gift from our friends. The lunch will fit nicely inside and there are place settings for four, as well as a thermos pocket. Best of all, it goes with us easily as we trek to that special spot. Very outdoorsy. Very chic.
GO FOR IT!
History has shown that ancient Egyptians were noted for using fragrant oils from plants for religious rituals, and embalming rites. As time progressed, they continued to refine their use of these oils in medicine, cosmetics, and perfumes.
Modern research to date is limited on the scientific effects of aromatherapy. Yet, these limited studies have shown that aromatherapy may have health benefits, for:
1) Relief from anxiety, stress, and depression,
2) Improved quality of life, especially for sufferers of chronic health conditions.
Aromatherapy is thought to affect smell and skin receptors, which send messages through the nervous system to the brain; the part that controls the emotions. (the limbic system) The “Plant and Fruit Oils” used in aromatherapy are extracted from selected plants and fruits, and are then distilled, where they become highly concentrated oils. These oils are known as “Essential Oils”.
Through the use of various diffusers they can permeate our living atmosphere. They can be released through the burning of scented candles. They may also be applied to the skin as in lotions, bath oils or bath salts. Even without our knowing we enjoy these scents at the holidays, in our soaps and shampoos, when bathing, or when applying those skin lotions after a refreshing shower.
The enjoyable weather, Family outings and activities along with all the traditional celebrations, and the sought after vacations the season brings. Honestly, it is where it’s at. Yes, we love summer but we’re not naive either. You and I know it doesn’t come without it’s nuances. Hot temperatures, humidity, and the high traffic throughout the house. Our children, their friends, the home improvement projects, and then there are the routine household tasks that Summer holds.
Did you notice how all this activity seems to impact the bathroom and shower area more. Frequent use of our bathrooms increases the likely hood of our arch enemy, mold and mildew. Keeping this area neat as well as colorful and bright for the summer months can be a daunting task. However, being the creative creatures that we are, and having an edge on the shopping market, we can over come.
Today shower curtains come in a variety of colors, and design, perfect for the stylish changes we wish to create. They’re made of PEVA, the alternative to the smelly vinyl curtains we once used. To ensure a stab at neatening out the extra laundry accumulation there are always stylish clothes hampers. You gotta love it!
